PRINT: Stayin’ Alive
“New” marketing vehicles such as email, mobile, video and social media might make you think they have replaced traditional print collateral. But statistics show that professionals are not forsaking print for digital; print magazines are one of the top forms of media they use, often in conjunction with digital media.
Print is not dead – it has too much going for it:
- Print marketing has proven its worth. Newspapers, magazines, and catalogs have long histories of being profitable. Why? Because they’re truly effective vehicles for advertising.
- The digital revolution has made people more aware of design, art, and beauty. We’re all marketers now on social media. Branding has never been hotter, due to a raised consciousness of the beauty of unique designs for products and packaging.
- Print is deeply ingrained in our culture. Signs, magazines, books and packaging surround us even as we check our phones. Staples still sells paper! People carry shopping bags. Stores mail coupons.
- Print is tangible, beautiful and memorable. Well-designed brochures, packaging and publications stay around longer than fleeting digital images. And being memorable is the key to good marketing.
By focusing on one source of media, you may be ignoring whole segments of your market. It’s wise to keep print as part of your marketing arsenal.
